This region is renowned for its wine, the quality of the grapes and produces some of the finest, tasty wines in central Europe. The main town in the area is Skalica located 7 km away, which is one of the oldest towns in Slovakia. Skalica is surrounded by a castle wall and the centre has been almost completely renovated due to European Union Funds, set 1 km from the Czech Republic border, and has the Skalica Vineyards set in the hills as a back drop.
