Limassol
Limassol is a hugely popular destination for tourists, out staged only by Ayia Napa. It is the second biggest town in Cyprus. The old town is popular for shoppers and its sea front is eight miles long – starting at the old port and stretching all the way to Amathus and a number of large hotel complexes. Residential areas are situated behind the hotels and there is a huge array of local amenities. A lively nightlife contrasts with the various historical attractions that the area has to offer such as Kolossi Castle and the ancient Roman site of Kourion.
This resort remains lively all year round. Tavernas and restaurants back onto long stretching beaches of dark sand and shingle. Richard the Lionheart is said to have married in the castle at Limassol.
