Spanish weather 'attracts expats'

The weather is a key factor for Brits who have emigrated to Spain, a new survey has found.

Research conducted by Alliance & Leicester International found that 92 per cent of expats who have made the switch to the country consider the warmer climate to be the biggest benefit.

And those who have moved to Spain also found the country to offer a number of other advantages, with 85 per cent stating they feel safer than in the UK and 69 per cent enjoying a better quality of life.

However, as Simon Ripton of Alliance & Leicester International noted, many Brits living overseas cited missing friends and family as being the main downfall of living outside the UK.

"[This] just goes to show that there are some home comforts that can't be found abroad," he remarked.

Property expert Mark Bishop recently stated that the credit crunch has "reinvigorated" those who are serious about buying property abroad, noting that those left in the market are the "keenest of the keen".ADNFCR-1100-ID-18876138-ADNFCR
