First-time buyers encouraged to share in MaidstoneFirst-time buyers encouraged to share in Maidstone
New buyers living in Maidstone could get a foot on the property ladder by investing in property in nearby Holborough jointly with a friend.
The suggestion comes after the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors noted that first-time buyers in the lower quartile earnings bracket are facing problems getting into the market.
According to Berkeley Homes, purchasing a house with a friend or relative means that buyers have more money to play with, as they can split the cost of deposits and therefore take advantage of a better mortgage deal.
"Apartments at Holborough are ideal for sharers thanks to their clever layouts and generous living space, meaning each sharer has a double room plus their own bathroom," said Piers Clanford, managing director of Berkeley Homes.
He added that Holborough is located in an "attractive setting" and boasts "excellent" nearby transport links.
The destination is situated five miles from the M2 and has "solid" transport connections to Maidstone and the M25 for commuters.
